The new Silent Violin was specially developed to meet the high demands of professional musicians of various genres. With the SV-255, Yamaha is setting new standards in terms of sound and playing feel. Its weight corresponds to that of an acoustic violin, making it easier than ever to switch between an acoustic violin and the SV-255 violin. The innovative dual pickup concept makes it possible to blend the sound quality of a typical electric violin with a warm acoustic sound. The external control box contains a professional preamplifier, volume, treble and bass controls. Further details such as a ground lift switch, switchable -26dB attenuation and an additional balanced output (XLR) round off the professional features. The handcrafted surface is made of spruce with a brown shaded finish on the front, while the back and neck are made of flamed maple, also with a brown shaded finish.

Weight and balance of an acoustic violin

At 540 grams, the 5-string SV255 weighs about the same as many of its acoustic counterparts, and the tailpiece, neck and tuning pegs on both models are exactly the same as on acoustic violins. The precise construction and careful attention to every detail will satisfy even the most demanding player. In addition, most standard shoulder rests can be used.

New body design for natural sound and playability

The "Acoustic Hollow Body Design" has been adapted and optimized on the SV255 for a refined violin sound and better playability. Two pickup types for more expressive freedom
