About the composer:
Maria Linnemann was born in Amsterdam in 1947 and grew up in England. She studied conducting, piano and violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Later, inspired by the guitarist, violist and painter Martin Nicolai, she turned to the guitar.

Since 1971 she has lived and worked in Germany as a musician, composer and teacher. Numerous trips have taken her to many countries, including five years in China. Many of her approximately 500 compositions - works for solo guitar, duos, trios, songs and chamber music - were written on these journeys.
