Description
Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo is an impressive seven-movement choral work on Psalm 100, which brings the global joy of this biblical hymn of praise to life in seven different languages. Each movement takes up the musical colors and characters of its respective language and combines them with Forrest's powerful, immediately appealing tonal language. The result is a work that is both festive and moving, appealing to concert audiences and performers alike.
The edition is arranged for mixed choir (SATB); depending on the performance, children's or upper voices can also be included. Jubilate Deo was composed for the Indianapolis Children's Choir and honors its long-time conductor Henry Leck. The composer himself sees the work as a kind of counterpart to his Requiem for the Living. This makes Jubilate Deo an extremely appealing addition to the modern sacred choral repertoire.
