Description
Pleyel: Duo No. 3, Op. 32 in A Major for Flute and Violin
Ignaz Joseph Pleyel’s Duo No. 3, Op. 32 in A major brings flute and violin together as equal chamber-music partners. Melodic elegance, clear formal design and an engaging sense of movement give the piece its distinctive Classical character. Musical ideas pass naturally between the instruments, creating a varied and well-balanced dialogue.
The work is written in two movements. The opening Allegro moderato combines lyrical phrases with agile passagework, precise articulation and effective dynamic contrasts. The concluding Rondo. Allegro assai is even more energetic and brilliant. The flute is given sparkling runs and nimble figures, while the violin alternates melodic writing with rapid passages and chordal elements. Both parts require secure technique, rhythmic accuracy and responsive ensemble playing.
Published by Edition Kossack in 2026, this edition contains the complete score together with separate flute and violin parts. The self-contained duo is particularly suitable for advanced students, music students and experienced amateur players. It offers an attractive addition to the Classical repertoire for lessons, recitals and chamber-music concerts.
