Louis-Auguste Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé were the first great innovators in the history of the clarinet in the 19th century.

Robert Carrée, the iconic figure of Buffet Crampon in the 20th century, perfected the concept of the clarinet in collaboration with his colleagues at the University of Music. In collaboration with Jacques Lancelot, he perfected the basic acoustic techniques and refined the polycylindrical design concept of the bore families by creating the two legendary clarinets: the R13 and the RC, which were launched in 1954 and 1975 respectively.

At the end of the 20th century, Buffet Crampon revolutionized the construction of basic materials with Green-LinE.

• The lower joint of a Bb clarinet extended by several centimeters, in which a strategically placed resonance hole allows the low E flat to be produced with a full and lively sound. Overall, the entire chalumeau register is greatly enhanced by its limited flare in favor of a longer cylinder.
• A shorter bell that no longer determines the accuracy of the E/B and F/C fundamental notes, but serves as a resonator for the entire clarinet.
• A surprisingly stable and light high register, thanks in part to the extended lower joint.
• A third fingering in the Bb middle register that creates vibrations along the entire length of the instrument to produce a full and resonant sound.
• The balance of the left hand, especially G# /C#, D/A, has been greatly improved.
• A slightly raised tone hole on D allows a more ergonomic positioning of the left hand fingers by keeping them on the same horizontal plane.
• Enjoy the rediscovery of the repertoire, which includes a low Eb and is composed in A to Bb.
